Plagiarism Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Islamization Studies (INJAS) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and intellectual honesty, enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against all forms of academic misconduct. Plagiarism—defined as the uncredited presentation of another party's ideas, text, data, figures, or intellectual property as one’s own—severely compromises the credibility of scientific publishing. INJAS addresses all categories of plagiarism, including verbatim copying without quotation, improper paraphrasing without credit, mosaic attribution, and self-plagiarism or duplicate submission of an author's previously published work without explicit citation and editorial disclosure.

Treshold: To ensure authenticity, all submitted manuscripts undergo automated similarity screening using Turnitin software prior to entering the formal peer-review process, supplemented by meticulous manual verification by the editorial team. INJAS establishes a maximum allowable overall similarity index threshold of 20%, with no single individual source exceeding 3% in similarity. To support prospective authors in maintaining compliance with ethical standards, the journal provides complimentary pre-submission Turnitin screening access, enabling authors to identify and rectify citation discrepancies prior to formal submission.

Misconduct: Manuscripts that breach similarity thresholds or show evidence of deliberate text manipulation, data fabrication, or uncredited reproduction will be subjected to corrective action in alignment with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. For minor similarity issues resulting from improper citation, authors are given a single opportunity to revise and correctly attribute the sources. In confirmed cases of severe or intentional plagiarism, the manuscript is rejected immediately, and the editorial board reserves the right to impose a temporary or permanent submission ban on the offending authors, alongside formal notification to their home institutions if necessary.

Authors bear full responsibility for verifying the original authorship of their manuscripts, ensuring that every direct quotation, indirect reference, empirical data set, and previous self-published work is cited accurately in accordance with the journal’s formatting style. INJAS actively promotes educational awareness regarding academic writing ethics and provides authors with a transparent appeal procedure, allowing them to formally contest plagiarism allegations through independent editorial review if they believe a finding is unfounded or inaccurate.
