Peer-Review Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Islamization Studies (INJAS) enforces a rigorous peer-review policy as a fundamental pillar to preserve the scholarly quality, accuracy, and integrity of all published research. Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial desk evaluation by the editorial team to verify its alignment with the journal's focus and scope, adherence to formatting guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards. Submissions that successfully pass this preliminary screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers selected strictly for their academic credentials and research expertise, ensuring an objective and comprehensive evaluation process.

Double-Blind: To uphold absolute fairness and prevent bias, INJAS employs a standard double-blind peer-review model where the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain completely anonymous throughout the evaluation process. Reviewers critically assess each manuscript based on its scholarly originality, theoretical significance, methodological rigor, validity of findings, and overall contribution to Islamic studies. In cases where the initial reviewers provide conflicting evaluation reports, the editorial board engages a third independent reviewer to reach a balanced decision, while any identified conflict of interest—such as institutional affiliation or prior collaboration—requires the assigned reviewer to recuse themselves immediately.

5-6 weeks Peer Review: Following the review period, reviewers submit detailed, constructive feedback alongside an editorial recommendation of acceptance, minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection. Authors are provided with the anonymized reviewers' reports and are required to address all constructive comments systematically within a designated timeframe when submitting their revised manuscript. The editorial board retains full responsibility for making the final publishing decision, synthesizing reviewer recommendations, author revisions, and the manuscript's academic merit, while maintaining a clear process for authors to formally appeal decisions if unfairness or procedural bias is suspected. INJAS actively promotes academic diversity by engaging a global pool of peer reviewers from varied institutional backgrounds and geographical locations. Reviewers are expected to uphold strict confidentiality, refraining from sharing, utilizing, or disclosing any unpublished research ideas for personal or academic gain. The journal formally recognizes the essential contribution of its peer reviewers through official review certificates, annual public acknowledgments, and invitations to join the reviewer or editorial boards, while continuously refining its peer-review procedures based on feedback from the international scholarly community.
